Would Your Family Be Interested in a Copper State Road Schoolers Summer Getaway?

Every summer, our family makes the trip to Fun Valley Family Resort in South Fork, Colorado, and it has become one of our favorite places to reconnect, relax, and enjoy time together outdoors. Between the riverfront campsites, family activities, beautiful mountain scenery, and welcoming atmosphere, it’s easy to see why so many families return year after year.
While visiting this summer, we were chatting with the Fun Valley team about Copper State Road Schoolers and the homeschool community we’re building. They asked if we’d ever consider hosting a Homeschool & Roadschool Family Rally here next summer—and we thought it was a fantastic idea!
Before we begin planning anything, we’d love to hear from you.
Whether you homeschool full-time, roadschool, or are simply looking for a family-friendly getaway with like-minded families, we’d like to know if this is something your family would enjoy.
One of the things we love about Fun Valley is that it truly has accommodations for just about everyone:
- Full-hookup RV sites for motorhomes, fifth wheels, and travel trailers of all sizes (some right on the water).
- Rental cabins for families who don’t own an RV.
- Rental campers.
- Motel rooms for those who prefer a traditional stay.

That means families can participate whether they’re seasoned RV travelers or have never camped before. A typical week at Fun Valley without any special event like an RV rally or other group event brings with it a lot of fun stuff for families and kids (and kids at heart) of all ages: a street dance, karaoke night, bike parade, crafts, fishing contests, pedal boats, mini golf, and a whole lot more.
You’re probably thinking, “This sounds great for littles… but will my teen enjoy it?”
Honestly, I am always surprised by the amount of teens here who are always congregating around the sport courts, fishing ponds, arcade, and running in and out of the general store for drinks and snacks during the street dance. So they will be FINE. There is plenty to keep them occupied as well.
Depending on turn out, we would love to add some of our own events and activities to the mix for our little Copper State Community!
If there is enough interest, we’d love to explore activities such as:
- Family campfires (depending on weather and fire restrictions)
- Homeschool meet-and-greets
- Group discussions on curriculum (We would even entertain the idea of inviting some reps from your favortite curricula to attend and talk about their products).
- Group field trips around the South Fork area (there’s an awesome mine nearby that does tours and you can even look for gems in their tailings pile… there’s a LOT of Amethyst.)
- Nature hikes and educational activities
- Family games and fellowship
- Opportunities for kids to make lasting friendships
No dates have been selected, and nothing has been scheduled yet. However, we are currently looking at August 2027. Right now we’re simply gathering feedback to see if there’s enough interest to move forward.
We’d Love Your Input!
If your family might be interested, please take a minute to fill out our interest form. You can:
- Join our mailing list for future updates.
- Let us know how many people might attend.

We can’t wait to see what this community can build together!
