One of the greatest advantages of roadschooling is experiencing history where it happened—and this summer we’re inviting families to join us at one of America’s newest historical destinations.
Copper State Road Schoolers will be visiting the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, North Dakota, during our Red, White & Road Schooling summer series.
Having officially opened on July 4, 2026, the library offers an exciting opportunity to learn about Theodore Roosevelt’s presidency, leadership, conservation efforts, and lasting influence on America’s public lands. Located near Theodore Roosevelt National Park in the scenic North Dakota Badlands, it’s an ideal educational stop for homeschooling families, roadschoolers, RV travelers, and anyone who enjoys bringing history to life.
Make It a Roadschool Lesson
One of our favorite ways to prepare for a historical destination is by reading about the people we’ll be learning about before we arrive. If your children are elementary or middle school age, we highly recommend the Presidents for Kids series. Reading about Theodore Roosevelt before your visit helps children recognize the people, events, and accomplishments they’ll encounter throughout the museum, making the experience even more meaningful.

After your visit, encourage your kids to talk about what surprised them most, compare what they learned in the book with what they discovered at the library, or even write a short journal entry about Theodore Roosevelt’s impact on America’s history and national parks.
Group Visit
We’re planning an afternoon visit on Saturday, July 25, and hope to qualify for the library’s 10% group discount, available for groups of 15 or more. If we reach that number, we’ll coordinate a group admission time so everyone can take advantage of the savings.
This will be a relaxed community meet-up where families can explore together, ask questions, share ideas, and enjoy learning alongside other homeschooling and roadschooling families.
